The fishermen's son

The photo was taken on the way to Kalanggman island(Philippines) which was a 2 hour journey across the Visayan sea. The crew of the small boat was a philipino fishermen and his son. During the sail, I got to know these amazing people, the father told me that he earned his living mostly from fishing and the occasional touristy boat ride, they even caught some fresh fish and cooked it on the boat for us. The boy was his right hand, learning side by side, so that he could one day take over his father's business. I took the shot, when I saw the boy at the nose of the boat, eyes set on the horizon, taken away by the never-ending sea before us. The photo remindes me of "The life of Pi".
